Achillea millefolium / Yarrow flowering herb. Yarrow has been used since, and commented on from the days of Nero till the present time. Dioscorides wrote of the wonders of Yarrow, and its special use by soldiers as a vulnerary (a substance which is used to treat external wounds) is alluded to in its common names of Soldiers woundwort. Reduces blood pressure; needs to be taken for a number of months. A tradition of putting an ounce of Yarrow under the pillow before going to bed and reciting Thou pretty herb of Venus tree, Thy true name is Yarrow; Now who my bosom friend must be, Pray tell thou me tomorrow. Brings a vision of the future husband or wife.
